YES! We are still having a workday Saturday, February 22 from 9-12. More to-do’s will be inside since it’s so cold but if we have any brave souls with saws to trim trees, that would be great too. Donut holes, coffee and water will be provided.
Cornerstone’s Mission team will be collecting hygiene products for the Raleigh Rescue Mission during the month of February. A container is located in the Narthex for the donated items. Please prayerfully consider loving our Raleigh Rescue Mission neighbors by donating. Contact Brad, Elder (Missions), if you have any questions or need more information. Raleigh Rescue Mission has asked for the following items:
New white washcloths & bath towels, Adult acetaminophen & ibuprofen (single dose packets), Adult cold & flu medicine (single dose capsules, must be alcohol-free), boar-bristle hair brushes, wide-toothed combs, women’s & men’s antiperspirant, women’s & men’s razors and shaving gel, boxes of tissues, nail clippers for adults, children, & infants
Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting, is the first day of Lent. It occurs 40 days, plus six Sundays, so 46 days before Easter. Jesus spent forty days in the wilderness fasting and then was tempted by the devil before he began his ministry. During the season of Lent we remind ourselves of his sacrifice as we fast, or give something up for Lent. Ashes are placed on our forehead or hand as a symbol of the Christ’s sacrifice.
Please join us in the sanctuary for our Ash Wednesday service. Wednesday, March 5at 7:00 pm
We are excited to get started with our first gathering on Wednesday, March 12th from 6:00 to 7:30. Please come and join us in fellowship. Food will be served. Sign up in the narthex & plan to bring your own beverage. Contact Kelly Duffie if you have any questions.
In 2024 Cornerstone donated more food than ever to the Western Wake Crisis Ministry. Surpassing the old record by 300 pounds, 2,342 pounds were collected. Many thanks to the team that delivers the food to the ministry! And thanks to those who have helped load it in their cars. Keep it coming. When the Little Red Wagon is filled, hungry bellies are then filled too.
God of creation, we lift to you all who were gravely impacted by the fires and hurricanes. Help those who are struggling and bless rescue and relief efforts. Give strength, courage, and hope for this day and the days to come. May our gifts of money, blood, goods, and, in days to come, our time and energy, help to restore the communities that have been devastated. Amen.
